It's time for America to wake up out of its slumber. Yes, Obama has kept us safe, but Cheney's NeoCons are back. And they just publicly told Israel that they can start a war with Iran if Romney is elected. And if Israel does that, it means we'll be at war with Iran too. The choice in this election just got a whole lot bigger.
But even so, #Romneyshambles continues, as his team make warmongering remarks that Romney no doubt agrees with but must distance himself from publicly. One starts to wonder who's really in charge of the Romney campaign?
Senor's comments caused a stir in the hours leading to Romney's speech, a reminder of the controversy that Romney had created a few days earlier in London...The former Massachusetts governor... stepped back from a comment a senior aide made a short while before the speech.
Senor: "We recognize Israel's right to defend itself," he told the audience. Earlier, the aide, Dan Senor, previewed the speech for reporters, saying that "if Israel has to take action on its own, in order to stop Iran from developing the capability, the governor would respect that decision."
Obama's former press secretary, Robert Gibbs, told ABC's "This Week" that the administration has delayed Iran's nuclear program. The president has imposed U.S. penalties against Iran and worked to tougher strictures applied by other nations. There have been numerous published reports of a coordinated U.S.-Israeli cyberattack that caused damage to Iranian equipment vital to creating weapons-grade nuclear material.Make no mistake, Dan Senor is THE MAN in the Romney camp when coordinating with Israel. He's the one with the real connections to Netanyahu. He's the one who's really speaking for Romney's campaign when it comes to Israel. What he says is the REAL policy. And as of today, publicly, that's war with Iran.
So, in a way, #Romneyshambles continues. In another way, team Romney is of course purposefully telling the world that they're approving the new war with Iran. However, the simultaneous walking back of warmongering rhetoric reveals a campaign team ill-prepared to handle the job of international diplomacy. Dimplomacy after all isn't really what NeoCons are after.
Team Romney has just made war with Iran a central public column of his campaign, where before it was only whispered about. This war was always going to start with Israel attacking Iran and dragging us down with them. Now the question is whether the US people want what Romney is planning to allow Israel to do or if they want a strong president like Obama who will put America's interests first.
